Views are being sought on a new shared pedestrian and cycle route to Tonbridge Station.

The route will link into Highways England’s “non-motorised user” route being constructed next to the A21 dualling scheme.

Kent County Council is currently running a public consultation into the scheme until Friday, May 26.

The route will run along Vauxhall Lane, Pembury Road, St Stephen’s Street and Priory Road to Quarry Hill Road.

The facility is planned to provide a safe, off-street route by upgrading existing footways to allow cycling.

This is achieved by widening the footpath from, generally, 2.5 metres to three metres.

On St Stephen’s Street there is not enough room to widen the footpath.

Here, cyclists will be directed onto the road and then back to the shared use facility at each end.

Paper copies can be viewed at Tonbridge Central Library, Avebury Avenue, Tonbridge, and the Gateway, Castle Street, Tonbridge, along with paper copies of the questionnaire.
