Still time to have your say on Wayfarers Care Home

Kent County Council’s (KCC) consultation on the future of Wayfarers Care Home will close in two weeks, but there’s still time for people to have their say.

The local authority is seeking views on the future of the Sandwich care home.

KCC is consulting on a proposal to close the home and move residents to alternative care homes that meet residents’ needs.

It is also proposed to explore other options for developing older people’s accommodation in the Sandwich area, ideally in the form of Housing with Care.

Housing with Care is where people can live independently and receive high levels of care. It aims to reduce social isolation, promote independence and offer an alternative to formal care and residential homes.

The consultation period ends on Wednesday, July 24 after which the responses will be analysed and included in a report to the Adult Social Care and Health Cabinet Committee on September 27.

A decision will then be taken by the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health in October.

Full information and an online questionnaire is available at kent.gov.uk/wayfarersconsultation.

Alternatively, collect a paper form and a freepost envelope available from Wayfarers or libraries in Sandwich, Deal or Dover and send it to: Consultation Team, Adult Social Care and Health, Kent County Council, Invicta House, Maidstone, ME14 1XX.
