A consultation has been launched which could see the speed limit dropped on Upper Haysden Lane in Tonbridge.
Currently this stretch of road is partly 40mph and partly national speed limit, so, if approved following consultation, the change would bring the speed limit down to 30mph from the junction with Masefield Way to south of the A21 overpass to include the access into Nexus School.
KCC Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport Michael Payne said: “The decision to change the speed limit comes following a planning application at the Nexus School with a road safety audit recommending the existing speed limit be reduced down to 40mph.
“Following feedback from that consultation I am pleased to say that Kent Highways officers have instead proposed a 30mph scheme and intend to provide new ‘school’ warning signs to advise drivers on approach from the south to be aware of children crossing in this area.”
The new consultation closes on February 22 and can be taken here.
