A consultation launches today (Wednesday) into proposals to restrict traffic through Felderland Lane in Deal.
Concerns have been raised by residents about the road’s use as a short-cut between the A258 Deal Road and A256 Sandwich Road.
Kent County Council is proposing to stop the left turn into Felderland Lane from the Deal Road and stopping the right turn out onto Deal Road.
This is to encourage those not needing to be on Felderland Lane to continue their journey on the main roads – the A258 and A256.
If supported, the scheme will include making some changes to the layout of Felderland Lane at its junction with the A258 with a grass verge on the Deal side of the junction to help physically restrict the left turn into the lane.
In addition, a new traffic island at the Felderland Lane junction would be constructed to help discourage the right turn out of the lane.
Larger vehicles will be able to run over the low-level traffic island as they will require the space when turning left out of the lane.
