There will be a nine-week closure of the Pepperhill household waste (HWRC) site from August 18.
Work will take place to repair the damaged roof following a fire at the site in April last year.
Unfortunately, during the stripping-out and replacement works KCC will have to close the site. Due to the design of the roof, there is no possibility of having the site open as the limited space will be taken up by a crane and rolled out steel.
This project will take 20 weeks in total to complete, however operators FCC have managed this by planning a significant amount of works outside of the full closure period including a large amount of roof works.
Workers will likely be on site for four weeks before and after this closure period which may result in some minor disruption, however, we are keen to keep the site operating for as long as safely possible and as such would ask our customers to bear with us during this time.
Diversion of waste for both Gravesham Borough Council and Dartford Borough Council will be implemented to ensure continuation of service during this period.
No kerbside collections will be affected.
The nearest HWRCs for Gravesham residents are Swanley and Dartford and will introduce extended hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the closure.
Kent residents can also continue to use Medway HWRCs – you now need to bring a proof of ID to use Medway Household Waste and Recycling Centres.
