Parents are being encouraged to apply for their KCC Travel Saver for the new school year.
Kent County Council (KCC) provides the discretionary KCC Travel Saver (KTS), which is a bus pass that provides subsidised bus fares for school-age children, to help parents with the cost of travel.
Technical problems with the application system meant the application form had to be closed while essential maintenance was carried out.
With that work completed parents now need to apply for their child’s bus pass by 31st July, so it is ready to collect in the first week of term.
Customers who had already applied are being assured that their applications have been received and will be processed as usual.
This year, parents are also encouraged to check bus timetables to make sure services are running from September. A list of bus services withdrawn by operators can by found on the KCC website.
KCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, David Brazier, said: “We are sorry that we have had some problems with our application form this year but there is still plenty of time to apply for your Kent Travel Saver bus pass.
“The scheme continues to provide excellent value for money compared with bus operator tickets, but it is important parents check their service is not one that is being withdrawn by operators, or subject to savings of the council’s Supported Bus Service.”
