Staplehurst Parish Council are very happy with their newly refurbished railings in the town thanks to a £1,614 KCC member grant from Councillor Eric Hotson.
The railings were originally installed over 20 years ago as safety measure for pedestrians in an area where the footpath is higher than the road.
They haven’t been painted since their installation and were looking very run down and neglected.
The railings are in the conservation area of Staplehurst so it is important that these are maintained and in line with the ambience of the area.
The Parish Council contributed to half of the costs and Eric was more than happy to to contribute the other half.
“The railings are such an improvement on what they were before and have made a real difference to the appearance of the town” said the Town Clerk Mrs Jenkins
