Hundreds of children were at risk of not getting to school next term when services to Lenham School and Homewood School in Tenterden were cancelled.
The services, provided by Carr’s Coaches and by Lenham School itself, cease in September and could have left students with no means of getting to and from school.
Public transport officers at KCC quickly made alternative arrangements with Star Line, R&J Coaches and Chalkwell who will provide replacement services.
They will run from Headcorn, Langley and Bearsted to Lenham School, from Ashford to Lenham School and from Pluckley and Egerton to Homewood School respectively.
Some changes to routes and timetables will take place and the details will be made available through the National Traveline website and through the schools. The changes will happen in September with the new services replacing the current ones without any gap in service for passengers.
Parents or students concerned about the changes or wanting more information about dates, routes and times should contact their school or the new operator.
KCC cabinet member for transport Mike Whiting said: “The routes affected are commercially run by bus companies and not KCC school buses, however, I am grateful to all the operators and to KCC’s public transport team for the work they have done to replace these services and ensure that children can still get to school.”
KCC’s planning and operations manager Steve Pay added: “We are glad that we have been able to secure these replacement services and KCC will now be working with schools and parents to ensure that any changes are fully understood and that any resulting applications for KCC Travel Saver Passes are processed as quickly as possible.”
