Beanstalk, from Bump and Beyond Project

The children’s literacy charity Beanstalk is recruiting and training more volunteers thanks to a £500 KCC members grant from Gary Cooke.

The charity will also use the grant to buy more resources to support its ‘From Bump and Beyond’ project, which provides literacy support to children who struggle with their reading ability and confidence.

Beanstalk’s vision is that all children and young people have the necessary skills to lead successful lives.

To do this it is often essential to engage with the whole family and support parents to understand the benefits of reading with young children at an early age.

Beanstalks volunteers have been working with Meadows Children’s centre to promote early literacy through their stay and play sessions.

Noreen Vinall, Reading Champion Co-Ordinator, said ” To ensure the success and sustainability of the project, new volunteers need to be recruited and trained.

“The grant from Gary Cooke has helped us achieve this and ensure the project continues to be a successful for the families of Parkwood.”
